How to Double Down on Doing the Work

We’re two weeks out from the end of the year.
Frankly, it doesn’t make sense right now to give you any new advice.
By the time you read this, you’re either in a last-minute pressure-cooker to wrap up before a holiday break…
Or you already have one foot out the door.
So let’s do something different.
***
I want you to look at your calendar, and I want you to block off one hour of time—any day between now and January 9th.
(This is a huge window of time, even with holiday breaks. You can do this; I believe in you.)
Add the time block to your calendar, and make it nonnegotiable.
For one hour in the next 3 weeks, the world can shift around you instead of vice versa.
What will you do in that time?
I want you to choose one thing—not three things, not your entire to-do list—to work on during that hour.
It could be:
- Clarifying goals for annual planning
- Taking action on a strategic initiative
- A good old-fashioned Think Session
It should be something only you can do, and CEO-level work.
When time is at a premium, as it often is during this period, double down on reclaiming some of yours.
Focus on just one thing, for one hour, on one day.
Let that be enough.
If you commit to this, you’ll be shocked by how much you can accomplish.
