Overview of the Role:

Crews & co. Finance Services needs an experienced Controller to lead the overall finance and accounting function, and continue to grow as a financial thought leader on a fractional level for our clients. We are targeting someone who has the desire, energy, and passion to develop, and implement the overall structure, process and practices to ensure the financial health of our company and clients. To do this successfully you should have in-depth knowledge of general accounting procedures, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and experience with risk management. We are looking for a team member that can mentor/coach and provide oversight to other Finance team members.

Responsibilities:

Accounting

  • Execute, manage, and monitor all items and tasks related to the accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, credit card and bank reconciliations
  • Ensure proper application of US GAAP, maintain general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Provide the monthly close package and financial statements, and insights
  • Manage and provide analysis for key metrics/KPIs
  • Proactively identify and develop recommendations for optimizing finance processes and checklists
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies, procedures, and controls
  • Work with external CPA firm and provide needed information for the annual review
  • Lead the relationship and collaboration with the Finance and Accounting team and CPA
  • Lead the development of the annual budget with the Senior Leadership Team
  • Maintain and update the annual budget
  • Manage and oversee cash flow
  • Proactively identify risks or opportunities to increase the profitability of the business
  • Prepare bank reporting and compliance certificates
  • Partner and support the Operations team with financial analysis, reporting, and maintaining the budget
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
  • Own the accuracy and completion of all accounting tasks

Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement a monthly finance scorecard
  • Maintain, measure, and continue to evolve the financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics
  • Lead bi-weekly and monthly in-depth Financial Meetings with members of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Establish, develop, manage and grow the Finance & Accounting team
  • Mentor and coach the Staff Accountant and other Finance & Accounting team members
  • Create performance plans, assess performance, and provide performance feedback
  • Create an atmosphere where Finance & Accounting becomes a business partner for the entire company
  • Actively participate with the Senior Leadership Team in annual planning
  • Provide and communicate best practices and recommendations for growing the revenue

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Lead Finance/Controller position
  • Proven experience as a Controller, finance officer or relevant role
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and risk management practices
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Proficient in Quickbooks Online, Gravity Software, or other applicable accounting systems, and payroll software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Google Docs/Sheets
  • Proficient in payroll software
